The Windrose Suite has a private front porch and entrance, and is located up a private staircase on the 2nd floor of the Windward House Inn. This romantic suite has the feel of an apartment with its cozy front facing sitting room and gas fireplace. The separate bedroom is furnished with a high luxurious queen bed and boasts multiple windows on both sides for cross ventilation.
A unique highlight of the Windrose Suite, is its spacious en-suite bathroom. Soak in the old-fashioned claw foot tub, or step into the large walk-in shower depending on your bathing preferences.
The Windrose Suite has a unique history. CPT Elijah Glover (1792-1868) was a lumberman and shipbuilder who utilized its sitting room as his office and place of business, when he built the house in the 1850s. It takes its name after the graphic tool used to give a succinct view of how wind speed and direction are typically distributed at a particular location. Before the development of the compass rose, a wind rose was included on maps in order to let the reader know which directions the 8 major winds were blowing.
